Working over two years creating Gateway, Erik Wollo presents a fine-tuned collection of carefully crafted compositions; electro-symphonies morph through a wide variety of moods, guitar expositions and crescendos. With a minimalist's restrained elegance, Wollo creates evocative passage through imaginary landscapes by blending dark and light elements. The resulting music is visual, kindling the feeling of nature inspired by the Nordic landscapes of Wollo's homeland. Audio clips & more info...

Lotuspike Joins the Spotted Peccary Group of Labels

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Big News!

Spotted Peccary Music is extremely excited to announce that the outstanding Lotuspike label has joined forces with Spotted Peccary, creating a more powerful conduit to deliver the progressive ambient and electronic music for which Lotuspike has earned such a great reputation.

Spotted Peccary label president Howard Givens states, "We are really happy to have Lotuspike now working with us because we strongly believe in what they do. We are very much looking forward to expanding the Lotuspike label identity, listener awareness, and their unique vision of electronic music. The world is a better place because of Lotuspike and the records they release, and we want them to continue to produce their incredible brand of progressive ambient music."

Even though it is joining the Spotted Peccary group of record labels, Lotuspike will retain its identity; the original founders - Ben Cox, Jeff Kowal and Daniel Pipitone - will continue to develop the Lotuspike artists and releases, and guide the label's creative direction and vision just as they always have.

"We formed lotuspike for the love of ambient music," said Jeff Kowal, one of the Lotuspike founders who along with Ben Cox and Daniel Pipitone, started the label in 2004 for the simple reason of providing a meaningful outlet for releasing music of the highest standards. Over the past four years Lotuspike has managed to release nine of the finest CDs that the genre has to offer.

"By joining forces with Spotted Peccary we are hoping to bring Lotuspike to a wider audience through stronger distribution and promotion," said Ben Cox.

WIth Spotted Peccary handling the business, administrative and marketing side of things, Jeff, Ben and Daniel will be free to focus completely on providing the creative guidance that makes the Lotuspike label so artistically deep and rich.

This new arrangement between Lotuspike and Spotted Peccary kicks into high gear on August 12th with the release of "From Pale Hands to Weary Skies", the highly anticipated new album by Darshan Ambient, one of Lotuspike's most popular artists, and will continue at full speed into 2009 with several new Lotuspike releases slated for the next twelve months, a period that will also see the re-release of the current Lotuspike catalog to mainstream markets.

With bases in San Diego, CA and Portland, OR, Spotted Peccary Music is one of the most respected independent record labels of the instrumental, electronic, ambient and new age music genres. The label and it's imprints - Lotuspike, Wanderings and O3E - specialize in a distinctive sound that blurs the lines between the more traditional definitions of these genres, guided by the simple fact that music is art.

Hypnos has been releasing music for the past decade, and we are happy to be able to offer some of their releases to the Spotted Peccary listeners, beginning with some of our favorites by Saul Stokes, Chad Hoefler, Paul Ellis and Numina. Many of you have probably already heard of at least a few of the Hypnos artists, but if you haven't, we strongly urge you to give these a try...Some really good stuff here!

Ambient textures of synth and guitar set the stage while occasionally haunting and beautiful Latin vocal phrases act as a beacon that guides the way through the dark and mysterious depths of the soul. Peaceful and yet powerful, Anno Domini lead us through doorways deep within ourselves that have long since been forgotten. more...

Peccaries Arrive In THE NEW WORLD

Actually, the Peccary (or Javelina) is the only pig-like creature that is NATIVE to North America...but that's another story entirely!

With the release of Writer/Director Terrence Malick's THE NEW WORLD just around the corner (Christmas Day), NEW LINE CINEMA and APPLE COMPUTER have posted an HD version of the behind-the-scenes featurette trailer that has been running in theatres for the past several weeks.

This two and a half minute trailer is a glimpse into the making of the film with thoughts and commentary from actors CHRISTOPHER PLUMMER, COLIN FARRELL, CHRISTIAN BALE and Producer SARAH GREEN.

The exciting news for us here at Spotted Peccary is that the trailer includes a track (THE SOURCE) from the latest Jon Jenkins album BEYOND CITY LIGHT, as well as additional unreleased tracks that Jenkins and Howard Givens created specifically for the promotion of the film.

The latest release from the excellent Lotuspike label. Craig Padilla and Zero Ohms have both had successful independent careers as ambient musicians, but this CD marks their first collaboration, and it is a mesmerizing sonic experience. Dean De Benedictis, has envisioned a vital work of instrumental compositions, exploring the art of electronic music with a refreshing integrity. Blending traditional electronic tones and structures with acoustic elements, he has sculpted an album that is raw and direct. In essence, he has captured a heart of true electronic music, while suggesting more thought-provoking themes. more...

ERIK WOLLO - WEST COAST TOUR 2005

Eric Wollo returned to the USA for a very special West Coast tour in August 2005. These were be Erik's first North America shows since the spring of 2002 when he played a handful of dates across the US and Canada, including this wonderful show for The Gathering in Philadelphia. Erik's live performances feature his electric guitar and synth work as found on past albums such as Wind Journey.

Appearing with Erik was be Chapman Stick master Tom Griesgraber, whose solo debut release "A Whisper in the Thunder" launched the Spotted Peccary label imprint O3E Music last year, and legendary drummer Jerry Marotta who has drummed with a who's who of top music stars including Peter Gabriel, Paul McCartney, the Indigo Girls, Elvis Costello, John Mayer, Robert Fripp, Hall and Oates, Tears for Fears, 10,000 Maniacs, Sara Mclachlan and many others.

Erik presented his own solo set, as did Griesgraber/Marotta, and they even managed to do some things all together as well. It's a very rare treat to have Erik here in the states, and any opportunity to see three artists of such high caliber is not to be missed. These were wonderful shows, and we thank everyone who came out to support these artists!

        A NEW WORLD OF SOUND

In December, New Line Pictures will release THE NEW WORLD, starring
COLIN FARRELL, CHRISTOPHER PLUMMER, and CHRISTIAN BALE, and directed by TERRENCE MALICK (Days Of Heaven, The Thin Red Line). The film, an epic adventure set amid the encounter of European and Native cultures during the founding of the Jamestown Settlement in 1607, transforms one of the most enduring American legends of the past 400 years, that of John Smith and Pocahontas, into a sweeping exploration of love, loss and discovery.

As promotion for THE NEW WORLD began to gear up in May, we were asked
if select tracks from the SPOTTED PECCARY catalog could be used as
musical elements in some of New Line's behind the scenes podcasts. Of
course, as is often the case in the movie biz, projects are constantly
evolving, and before long JON JENKINS had created five new original tracks, and HOWARD GIVENS was mixing and editing a ten minute audio program combining Jenkins' music with vivid sound effects and behind the scenes interviews with cast and crew. This program, produced by CHRIS CUMMINGS, is an audio companion to a beautiful book containing stunning images and information about the making of the film.

A short four minute version of the program has been turned into an
Exclusive Slide Show for New Line's official NEW WORLD website, TheNewWorldMovie.com.

Click here to go the the website, and click on "Features", and then "Behind The Scenes Preview" once you are there.

Spotted Peccary Launches New Record Label

Spotted Peccary Music is proud to announce the launch of its new eclectic imprint O3E, with the release of A Whisper in the Thunder by Chapman Stick master Tom Griesgraber. O3E will diversify the Spotted Peccary offerings to include a new vision of art-based Classical, Jazz, Electronic, and Rock.

Over the past twenty years, Spotted Peccary Music has firmly established itself as a premiere "art" label focused on electronic and acoustic music. It has built a highly acclaimed reputation by continuing to support artists intent on producing artful and meticulously crafted music intended for deeper listening.

O3E continues this esthetic while expanding the genre focus to include material that will be appealing to a wider audience. Spotted Peccary Music label head and founder Howard Givens states, "By expanding our focus to include a fresh new approach to Classical, Jazz, Electronic, and art-Rock, we will offer our listeners a wider range of music and further our commitment to visionary compositions that more completely reflect our views of music art and its interaction in our lives. As with our other imprint, Wanderings, O3E will give us a larger sonic canvas on which to present music that we believe in."

The music of O3E is available at o3eMusic.com, Amazon.com, iTunes, and a select number of the finer music retailers.
